It was a struggle but i finally decided to spend some money and get myself a GoPro Camera. Ive wanted one for years but wasn't sure whether it would be the right fit for me. I havent snowboarded, jet skied, or rafted in years. But i tend to travel alot and i always wanted a camera that could go everywhere i would go, without worrying about getting it wet or damaged. And so i chose the GoPro Hero 3 :Silver Edition. Its not the uber top of the line one (the Black Edition), but i dont need all that power. I just need something that takes great video when i need it to, and something that can go everywhere i want to go. And i figure that it will be great to use in tandem with the Sony HandyCam i already own and the cam on my iPhone 4. Between all those, i should be set for anything occasion now.
There are a few things ive noticed you need to be aware of if you arent careful. The footage can come out shakey sometimes as there seems to be no built in image stabilization. Not a problem since i can always smooth it out in post, but it is something that would have been nice to include. That said, im really happy with the clarity and the $380+ i dropped for it. I bought the Cam,The LCD touch screen for it, and a few accessories... that i needed for not only this, but for my other cams as well.
Anywho, I went out and shot a short quick test today, which you can see below. Now, the image and color quality of the GoPro is really great, but because im a "noodler" at times, i have color corrected and adjusted the contrast in the video. NOT MUCH! but i did a little to make the greens, blues and blacks a bit richer.
I havent tried Pro Mode yet. so that will be next and i hear that helps the image also. :)
