So, I obviously can't get into details really about the Cameron Crowe film I've been working on. But what I can talk about is that we've been experimenting with a sweet new render software that's in development called Redshift. And by "we" I mean a guy named Ken Pellegrino. It's made the previs I've done look SUPER polished! Maybe one day you will get to see some of it. In the mean time, just imagine cracking open a dirty old rock to find a shiny geode inside. It's like that, but better!
And if you are a Render Jocky yourself... I suggest you look into this renderer in the future. It's only in ALPHA right now but the results have already been amazing! And most important; it's been fast! (from what i understand and have been told)
Other than that, I've really enjoyed my time over at Hammerhead and hope they've enjoyed having me. Its full of great people, doing great work! I'm gonna miss working there after next week. But hey, maybe in the future I can find my way back!
That's all kids! Enjoy your Labor Day weekend!
My brother Kevin is currently participating in something called The World Race. Its a missions thing where various teams of people hit up 11 countries in 11 months and try to spread a little love, compassion, and help to those in need. During his trip he has been spotlighting the different places and people and putting out some really great videos. And I thought to myself, "How can i use my gifts and skills to help him?" Great Videos deserve a great "Bumper"... thus I created one for him.
It helps give his videos extra pizazz... and it helps me improve my craft. So win, win!
Below, is the final video as well as my inspiration board so you can see some of where i got my ideas. Its my first major Motion Design stuff and im sure i can improve... but im pleased with the result.
If you get the chance, check out his World Race profile and Blog. And support a racer if you can. They could use it! Every little bit helps, even if its just encouraging words! http://kevingarcia.theworldrace.org/
Software Used: Maya 2012, After Effects CS5, Photoshop CS5
Quick Update: Im not dead. Just working on some Untitled Cameron Crowe Film as lead previs artist. And thats really all I can say, other than its been a blast so far. Everything else is "hush, hush" as usual. Wish i had more to show right now but perhaps soon!
In the mean time... totally unrelated to film of animation... watch this video and laugh.
I did. :)
